This ‘haunting comedy’ by local theatre playwright - David Tristram, was a splendid choice for the company and the small cast worked well together to create a very effective production. Good set design and simple technical effects created a suitably haunting atmospheric story with an abundance of slick comedy and the occasional Shakespearean quote thrown in made the whole thing thoroughly believable. Quite a result! All the company provided strong complementary performances and there were no weak links which ensured that a good pace was always maintained. Fantastic performances from Shelly Jennings as the ghost of Ruby making the most of all her opportunities (especially entering through the wall!) and from Alan Lowe who created a strong, sympathetic and funny character in the central role of Edward. Some excellent support from Graham Ward (Alex), Rachel Holmes (Glenda) and Ruth Bosman (Frances) who were perfect in their contrasting roles while Roger Shepherd was hilarious as the be-wigged Hedley. This was a great team effort and a significant achievement on the part of the production team. There was a warm welcome from the Front of House team and I managed to meet the cast at the end of the show which made it a very entertaining night for me.
