A clever idea by Andrea Thacker to highlight the two different types of rival school groups using a mixture of modern, pop and musical theatre songs, whose mood and lyric fitted the action. Georgie (Carly Robertson) and Chelsea (Lara Ward) were both strong leaders of their gang. Both girls were good soloists but also worked very well together in their duets. Duet with Georgie and Alice (Zoe Burns) proved that not only they, but the whole group would be worthy and welcome to “Take a Bow”. One of the strong comic interludes came from Rory Fairbairn as Jock and Kirsten Hood as Jeannie. Playing a couple in their twilight years they held the audience with a lovely rendition of “I Remember it Well”. The plot focused around a competition between Geeks and Wags and of course cheating took place. The outcome of course was uncovered but all worked out in the end. Throughout the show both groups treated us to some memorable numbers which were well choreographed. Some of the best known numbers were Material Girl, Hey Soul Sister, Sound of the Underground, Favourite Things and Son of a Preacher Man. Although the group had lots of talented young ladies it was great to see the young men in the show shining through enthusiastically. They brought their own style and humour to the show too.
Such a joy to see so many youngsters throwing themselves whole heartedly into a most rewarding hobby. A massive congratulations to all and of course very well deserved youth certificates.
