Wow, an absolutely phenomenal visit to the Dundee Scout Gang Show tonight as they celebrate an incredible 60 years of bringing entertainment, friendship and Scouting spirit to audiences across Dundee.
I have been an audience member of Gang Show for longer than I care to divulge and it’s a joy to watch these shows unfold, however I can honestly say this is the best Gang Show I've seen. From the opening energy of Dance With Us Tonight! right through to the spectacular Finale, the cast never let the momentum drop.
The variety throughout the show is fantastic. Whether it's the Beavers welcoming some unusual new friends to the stage, the Cubs taking us Back in The Day, the celebration of The Beatles in Hey Jude, the nostalgia of 60s Hits, or the laughter brought by Costume Chaos, every item showcases the talent, enthusiasm and personality of the cast.
What makes Gang Show so special is seeing Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders come together as one team. They bring all the energy, deliver all the joy, and remind us exactly what Scouting is about. Every single person on that stage tonight brought their own unique brand of entertainment and should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.
A special mention must go to the leadership team behind this milestone production. Team Lead and Production Director Stacey McPherson-Kennedy, Musical Director Billy Muir, Depute Production Director Brodie Mulholland, and Assistant Production Director Aimee Brown have clearly inspired a company that performs with confidence, enthusiasm and pride. Their dedication, alongside the backstage team, musicians, wardrobe, technical crew and volunteers, shines through in every moment of the show.
I along with the Youth Co-ordinator Neil Hartley also had the privilege of presenting long service awards this evening, recognising individuals who have dedicated between 5 and 25 years of service to the amateur musical stage through Gang Show. These awards reflect an extraordinary commitment to supporting young people, creating opportunities, and keeping the tradition of Gang Show thriving for future generations.
As a NODA representative, it was wonderful to celebrate not only the achievements on stage but also the incredible volunteers whose commitment over the years has helped Dundee Scout Gang Show reach this remarkable 60-year milestone.
Audiences looking for a non-stop evening of music, laughter, nostalgia and fun, were treated to just this and more. Dundee Scout Gang Show's 60th anniversary production was a wonderful celebration of the past, present and future of Scouting entertainment. Looking forward to next year.
