The financial situation in the Saxon household is somewhat fragile and causing much concern to Lynette (Kirsty Fisk) and her sixteen year old daughter Sorrel (Briony Sparrow), who are on their own since Dad went off with Lynette’s business partner when their dot-com business collapsed. Lynette works twelve hour shifts as a temporary office cleaner and it looks very much as if they will have to give up their really nice flat for alternative cheaper accommodation. Sorrel is well aware of the situation and unbeknown to her Mum, plans to improve their finances by going “on the game”, using the flat as her base for operations. In order to set herself up in business Sorrel enlists the help of her naive school friend, Kelly (Lucy Kelley), who lives in a nearby flat, to act as her maid. The girls preparatory activities prior to the launch of the business and the reception given to their first customer was a masterclass in comedy - their timing, body language and facial expressions had the audience in fits of laughter. The Director, Lynette Richardson, had obviously coached these two young players to extract the maximum from Ayckbourn’s script. This first-class entertainment had good pace and took place on a well designed and constructed set. The costumes were most appropriate and of good quality. The stage crew deserve a special mention for the efficient manner in which they carried out their tasks. This was undoubtedly a great team effort with those in supporting roles contributing significantly to the overall success of this production. Well done all who were involved.
