60 years of pop, rock, and musical theatre, and each year the concert evening seems to get better and more professional.   And concerts seem to much more to learn than the average musical and all involved in the performance.

Chris Dilley is so good at encouraging the youngsters to exploit their skills and give their all with energy, whether in singing, dance and playing instruments: what talent is being nurtured for the future.  And also of the production front for the future with a chance for Olivia Dolman as his assistant; MD Elliot Hunter under mentoring of Helen Curson; choreographer Jodie Quirke with two dance captains Sophie Chapman and Maisie Dolman, this is forward thinking and great encouragement of skills development.

When there are nearly forty youngsters on stage (and delighted that all who wanted to could be in the production), there will be a huge supply of energy and talent, and the rehearsal team should be congratulated for the high standard of singing and dance movement in a very fast and slick production.   It is difficult to pick any stars (and in fact I think should not happen) as all had worked so hard and achieved with skill either in their own numbers and especially the big company numbers, what an enjoyable thing to watch and hear and applaud.

Great cleverness in linking the numbers chosen with reactions to groups and disbanding, love and rejection, possible drugs, rediscovery of love, a talent contest and auditions, success and failure, and general interactions between friends and life, a story totally related to the age group.

Showing off their playing of instruments was a change to normal theme and added another dimension to the skills.  The choice of numbers and whether sung as solos, duets, trios , groups or full company certainly showed the talent throughout for 7 to nearly 19 year-olds and what a potential for the future. This was an evening of pizazz and blew the audience away with satisfaction, a parade, kings, sue, telly, rhythm and dance, cell block, Christmas, electricity, quiet, mountain, seizing the day, staying, and not letting anyone steal rock and roll, with company numbers chitty bang bang, and thanking all for the music as the show stoppers.   It was a really good evening of enjoyment for all the audience (a lot of them).   DOSYTCo can be very proud of their youngsters and what they achieve.
