The joy and enthusiasm of youth was never more evident, than in the faces of the young PERFORM cast at the Wydean School Chepstow, with their production of “Frozen” Junior.
The much-loved characters in this show were brought to life by Anwen McCullough as the young Anna and Florence Rowlands as the young Elsa. A lovely performance both vocally and visually. These two young performers set the scene beautifully. Their movements through the story gave the audience constant changes and interest, and the energy of their performance never faltered. My congratulations to them both for a strong opening to the show.
The king [Harper- Ray Linton, the Queen [Livvy Ashby] and the Prince [Francesca Salisbury] gave very good performances with excellent characterisation.
The entrance of Kristoff [Seren Richfield] and Sven [Toby Turton] was an audience high spot. Great characterisation and excellent timing from this duo made for a very entertaining performance.
The creation of Olaf the Snowman as a stage prop was ingenious and appreciated by all, and the resulting performance given by Evie Richardson was a joy to watch, as she brought energy and life to the character. “ I did miss the carrot nose” but very well done.
Isabel Harris as the grown-up Anna was truly enchanting and gave us the character, we were all expecting to see. Beautifully performed both visually and vocally. Very well done.
The most expectation in relation to this show has got to be in the persona of the grown-up Elsa, played with outstanding confidence by Eleanor Turton. This performance grew in strength both visually and vocally with each changing scene, with such emotion and expression for such a young performer. “She was Elsa”.
My congratulations to all the main characters, your support for each other was a credit to you and your company.
A highlight of the show has to the wonderful performance of the Snow Ballet
Lucy Jenkins, Ronin Brouwers, Glesni Abbott, Chloe Steele, Jessica Price. Eva Cawte-Lounds and Carys Choules. These young performers most of whom did not have Ballet training or experience, gave a whole new vision to the production, with their superbly coordinated and graceful movements that made all the difference to every scene.
My congratulations to them all and to the choreography and training of Megan Pugh [Director/Choreographer] the results were sensational.
With the excellent and creative lighting from Cait Townsend and Sam Greatorex and the inspiring stage and set construction by Tom Fanton, the whole visual experience gained depth and atmosphere. My congratulations to Louise Pugh [Creative Director] and her production team for an outstanding production. Finally, my greatest respect must go to the very young cast. Your performance never faltered. Every member knew their words and movements and your energy was there from the opening scene to the last curtain call.
The future of Musical Theatre is safe in your very talented hands.
Very well done to you all.
