Based on the Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale The Snow Queen this musical version takes its inspiration from the hit Disney film Frozen and includes all the characters and songs from that film.
As Young Anna and Els,a Mabel and Aria, brought the iconic characters to life with energy and drive that set the tone for the rest of the show. As the grown-up Anna and Elsa at the show I attended Lauren and Holly gave excellent performances that really captured the essence of the characters. All four had lovely singing voices and great stage presence.
As Hans of the Southern Isles, Stanley gave an assured performance as the charming yet villainous 13th-in-line prince who manipulates Princess Anna to seize control of Arendelle. As in all good fairy tales however good wins out in the end.
Much of the comedy in the show is provided by Kristof, his reindeer Sven and the loveable snowman Olaf. Played by Duncan, Osama & Harry and Amber they all gave convincing performances brining their characters to life with ease having good stage presence and good singing voices.
All other principals were well cast and looked assured in their roles. The chorus of Townspeople/Hidden Folk sang and moved well brining the scenes they were in to life.
Staging was simple but effective, choreography was inventive and direction ensured the action kept moving at pace.
Congratulations to the production team for delivering a first class show thoroughly enjoyed by all of us in the audience. It was clear that everyone on stage was giving their all.
