It’s always nice to visit a company with new ideas in mind and Upchurch Players are the ones. I like to visit them as they always try to give their audiences just that.  Giving us something newly written by someone in the company.

Young writer Adam James gave us just that!! And along with Bex Bowman as Director  they have done justice to ‘From the Horse's Mouth’, written by Adam. Bex pulled it all together with a large cast of twenty players.

It's hard to define: was it a play, a pantomime, a play with music, or a review? It had so many elements of all these genres.

With this cast, all working their socks off whether leads or ensemble, did it matter if things went wrong, certainly not. Did we worry if they forgot lines (and they did at times) it made it more entertaining.

Bex, you gathered your cast perfectly and they did you proud. With such a small stage and twenty cast members, they moved swiftly around it. It would be unfair of me to mention any player singularly as you all put so much energy in to what you had been given, from leads to ensemble players. For us your audience to see you having so much fun was a joy to watch.

Thank you, Upchurch Players, all twenty of you, for giving me and my guest such a funny and entertaining evening. Keep on giving us new pieces of self-written theatre that are fresh and new.

Just one gripe!! Great photos of all and great bios as well, but unreadable in the theatre so small, black on yellow isn’t good sorry. But good content nonetheless.

I look forward to Adam James’s (such a talent this man has) next piece Blackbeard coming in September.
