The concept of this concert was cleverly incorporating a wide range of music from a variety of musicals, some well established and some more recent.
It is often the case with a concert that the opportunity to concentrate on some good singing is at the expense of performing. That didn’t happen on this occasion as there was some excellent singing from the chorus, ensembles, duets and soloists. This was all incorporated with some well thought-out ‘staging’, mood lighting and effective use of microphones.
It is impossible and also unfair of me to mention individual names as every member should be proud of their contribution. I would expect ‘seasoned’ performers to sell their solos but there were a lot of young people in this concert and every one of them performed whatever musical number they were in. Audiences have come to expect more than a ‘stand up’ and ‘sit down’ concert from musical theatre companies and they certainly got it here so well done!
The production team ensured that there was quality singing mixed in with humour, movement and variety of presentation by having some performers interact with the audience as they moved past them en-route to the stage.
The whole evening was complemented by the audience seating arrangements together with the table and room decorations.
Well done to everyone involved!
