ForeBalls !

How refreshing to have the opportunity to review a world premiere of an original play !

" ForeBalls ! " is a comedy both written and directed by Adrian Cale. The play has a simple plot, it is set in a golf club, the action takes place on a Tuesday, which is supposed to be ladies day, two of the clubs male officials decide to play a round of golf, then the fun begins ......

Adrian's script is very well written and extremely funny too, his direction was excellent, the nine characters were well cast in their roles and the play had a very good pace.

All the actors gave good, solid performances, however, three of them in my opinion, deserve a special mention; June Johnson who played Cicely Potts and Shaun Johnson in the role of Hector Barrington, both gave very natural and consistent interpretations of their characters. Joe Lawrence who played Billy Woods, had excellent stage presence and a good deal of charm, he interacted well with all the other actors, he is naturally very funny. Well done to you all !

Technically the production was sound, the scenery was well made and used effectively, as were the props. I loved the costumes, these looked very authentic and greatly enhanced the look of the piece. Well done to everyone who worked backstage on this production.

Congratulations to the entire company, both on and off stage, for presenting this delightfully entertaining play. Thank you to Finedon Church Sunday School Entertainers for inviting me, my guest and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, I greatly look forward to seeing you all again in the future.
