A very good way to celebrate 30 years of the Young Performers.  Using the stage area to the limit,  with the very competent band placed across the back, and with very little in the way of scenery, this  was a well created and balanced production that epitomises this type of musical.

Liam Morris gave his all in a very commendable performance as Ren McCormack, and Nicola  Northcott  gave a feisty portrayal as Ariel, daughter of the local churchman, the Rev Shaw Moore.  A difficult role handled  well by Harvey Latter.  Erin Hill as Vi Moore, and Emily Owen as Ethel McCormack,  mothers of the rebellious Ren and Ariel, played their roles with great maturity and dignity, their singing most effective.  I liked Jake Truman as the wacky country hick, Willard Hewitt, and Natasha Grebby complimented Willard with a neat performance as Rusty.  The chorus were well disciplined and eager in all the numbers and gave good support to the principals.

The company overall provided a most entertaining production and here`s to the next 30 years from this very talented youth group.
