Anyone wanting a great all dancing musical then you can`t go far wrong with this show.
Telling the story of an American township that has forbidden dancing since four youngsters were tragically killed after a night out . Rem McCormack and his mother Ethel move into the town from the city and find life so different. He cannot understand why his new friends don`t enjoy music and dancing..
Rem is brilliantly played by Joseph Foster and his mum by Mel Ratcliffe. He falls for Ariel Moore well acted by Georgina Leckey, who has a fantastic voice. I thought the duet sung by Rem and Ariel `Almost Paradise` was stunning..
Kieran Slater and Laure Cunliffe were outstanding as The Rev Shaw Moore and his wife Vi. She sings a beautiful ` Can you find it in your heart`. In the first act, Shaw performs a super `Heaven Help Me` and gives a reprise of this and `Can you find it Iin your heart` in the second act. Every piece so well sung.
The friends Rusty, Wendy Jo, and Urleen are well cast and sing well together. The girls were played by Laura Findley (Rusty), Em Cohen (Urleen) and Ella Pollitt (Wendy Jo). Not forgetting the boys who all worked well together. I loved the scene when Rem is teaching Willard (Sam Hill) to dance.. The number `Mama Says` was super..
I must congratulate mother and daughter, Louise and Em Cohen for ALL the dance numbers. They were brilliant. Scenery was simple with nice touches, for example, the diner scene was well done.
Thank you for a most enjoyable show.
