Congratulations to Rutland Musical Theatre for choosing this new show, and introducing, and giving the opportunity to, a young and talented cast.   The new production team did an excellent job and gave us a slick and polished production, in which the cast all came together and clearly enjoyed performing the piece.   The choreography was well thought out and executed, all within the capabilities of the company. Musical direction was good and well balanced, not drowning the performers, and the overall sound balance was first rate, which in many cases, in this type of show can often spoil the performances.   The cast all played their parts, particular congratulations should go to the young leads, Sophie May-Worrall as Ariel Moore, and George Tebbutt as Ren McCormack.   Alice Louch, Katie Rose and Catherine Crook sang and performed excellently as Ariel’s friends.  Mark Thomas moved from his usual backstage role to give an excellent performance, complete with Harley Davidson, as bad guy Chuck Cranston, and Luke Cooper gave an excellent singing and comic acting performance as Willard Hewitt.   The cast members playing the adult roles gave excellent believable performances adding to the overall strength of the story, as, indeed, did all the company. Congratulations to Hilary Goldsmith, as Betty Blast, making her debut on roller skates.   The singing throughout was good with some excellent harmony singing. Well done to RMT for this thoroughly enjoyable production. Thank you for your hospitality.  Looking forward to your next production, Tom Jones, with new book and music by Edward German.
