A very popular show for youth groups with some catchy musical numbers which the ensemble did well. Some new members adding to the number in the cast, and the overall balance of the musical numbers were well sung.
Luke Grint as Ren McCormack was very believable in his role, with good movement and style.A confident performance.Ethel McCormack his Mother was played by Lauren Lotts who sung well and with good clear dialogue.
Jerome Adams-Hall as the Rev Shaw Moore displayed a real feel for his rather serious role and sung very well, and I enjoyed his performance along with Courtney Cooper-Gleave as his wife Viv, who had a good singing voice with a lovely tone. Played with a sympathetic feel for her family and problems they were going through.
Annie-May Kitchener as the daughter Ariel looked just right in her character and teamed well in the family issues adding to the storyline.
The trio of girls Felicity Divers,Pheobe Wiggett & Scarlet Wiggett playing Wendy-Joe,Rusty and Urleen made a good threesome and worked well together. Full of fun within their roles.
Willard played by Kieran Dale and the guys gave great fun in Act 2 with “Mama Says”,one of the highlights with all the guys, and “Holding out for a Hero” with all the girls in Act 1 did likewise.
I liked the rather moody Chuck played by James Clark, and all the smaller characters were well cast.
I did find the balance of the band against the singers was loud especially in solo numbers. It is so important to do a sound check on dress rehearsal on this, bearing in mind that with an audience in the sound does alter.
I know there were several changes quite late in the rehearsals and leading up to the opening night,so well done to everyone who stepped in,and well done to you all for your support on this.
I am pleased that you are still performing a variety of shows which the audience always enjoys.
I thought most of the costumes looked good and in keeping with the period of the show.
The lighting on the set worked well.
Well done to you all for another good show and especially to Chris as Director for all her sterling work with the company.
