It has been five years since CADS last staged a play on their home ground though they have continued to perform their annual pantomimes. Having taken a rest they felt it was now time to respond to popular requests and once again contribute to the cultural life of the area; they would do this  by enacting the hilarious farce, ”Flying Feathers,” written by Derek Benfield. The story line begins when Chief Constable Henry Potterton (played by John Lawrence) and his sister (played by Ruth Hannah) pay a visit to the home of their brother who is a ‘man of the cloth’, thought to be visiting a religious commune in the Orkneys. On arrival at the somewhat isolated property they find several scantily clad young ladies occupying the premises which, under the supervision of the housekeeper, Nora Winthrop (played by Aimee Waller), appears to have become a ‘house of ill repute’.  Various characters turn up at the address, some as clients and others as bona fide trade or business people. Punter Roger Featherstone (well characterised by John Munton) turned up dressed as a vicar. Mr Tunicliffe, a somewhat eccentric solicitor (played by Tim Williams) arrived on horseback to impart news that Henry’s brother was dead. More mayhem then ensued when Henry’s brother arrived on the scene dressed in a monk’s habit. Without doubt the contributions from Niomie Thompson (as Polly), Charlotte Cureton (as Debbie), Rebecca Moss (as Sally) and Stacey Marie Allen (as Jackie), the four young ladies performing the roles of ‘working girls’, contributed much comedy and chaos to this production. Well done for taking on these parts! Advertised as a comedy farce for persons over 18 years of age, this fast paced production certainly gained considerable approval from the audience.
