This World War 2 drama is set in the lounge of a small hotel situated next to a Royal Air Force base that’s used by the airmen and their wives as a communal gathering place as well as permanent residents and visitors passing through. Enter Peter Kyle (Lee Hodgetts), a famous American film star who is just passing through, so he claims! But it soon becomes apparent that his real intention is to rekindle an old flame and win back the heart of Patricia Graham (Rachel Holmes) who has recently married Flight Lieutenant Teddy Graham (Stephen Ralph) who has no notion of his wife’s previous relationship.  Rachel Holmes is particularly convincing as the women toying with the hearts of the two men, as is Lee Hodgetts as the playboy film star. Other good performances included Jill Simkin as “Doris” married to Polish airman Flying Officer Skriczevinsky (Colin Mears) who’s broken English made for some good funny moments throughout the show, also Chas Burnell as the hotel owner “Mrs Oakes”and Dan Holyhead as the hotel Barmen. Rebecca Holmes as “Mrs Miller”, Alan Lowe as “Sergeant Miller” and Mark Dallison as “Squadron Leader Swanson” made up the fine cast.
I have to mention the excellent attention to detail used on the stage set and props, once again a very high standard, together with some atmospheric lighting added to the overall quality of this production.
Thank you also to the front of House staff for their warm welcome and hospitality.
