This is a classic tale about Marlin an over-protective clownfish who lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his son Nemo. One day Nemo decided he wanted to explore the world against his dad’s wishes but unfortunately, he got captured and was taken to Sydney. Marlin faced his fears and decided to go and look for his son and along the way he had help with quite a few characters like Dory, Sea Turtles and the Tank Gang. Marlin and Nemo both overcame lots of challenges on their journey.
Marlin played by Rhys Kirkbride, showed a lot of character in this role and his performance was very strong and with his friend Dory played by Frankie Featherstone, her comic timing was very good, they made a very strong couple with their acting and singing.
Nemo played by Penny Murphy, glided around the stage with beautiful vocals and lots of enthusiasm.
Obviously, I cannot mention everyone by name, but I must congratulate the full ensemble from the Tank Gang, Reef Kids and Parents, the Turtles, Sharks and Sting Rays. Even the poor chap who couldn’t eat any of his food due to the seagulls (we all know what that is like don’t we) you were so good and full of energy which came through to the audience.
The show was very well directed, and the choreography worked well so a big well done to Rebecca Wood and Katie Weir for all the hard work you must have put into this.
Lighting and sound went without a hitch and with that many microphones just goes to show the dedication and enthusiasm of a very good technical team.
The singing by all the cast was nice and loud and with plenty of smiles so well done to Susan Houghton, we all know it can be hard work, but you all nailed it.
Lastly what can I say about the set, this was one of the most colourful shows I have ever seen, with the costumes which were extraordinary and the huge screen it felt at times we were all under the sea it looked fantastic.
Once again to everybody involved applaud yourselves as you thoroughly deserved your standing ovation at the end of the show.
