FINDING NEMO JR is the stage show adaptation of the 2003 Disney Pixar’s film with book, music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.  The book was adapted by Lindsay Anderson.    It's set in the underwater world where Nemo enjoys himself among the quirky marine life.  It’s packed with songs, dances and is a lovely, heartwarming family friendly show.

The set was excellent giving the impression of being under the sea, blue and greens, with a slightly ethereal feeling and with a ladder to the surface.    The main ‘stars’ were the scratch-built puppets including a giant tortoise and shark.    Other stunning props included umbrellas converted into sparkling jellyfish.

The costumes were gorgeous and varied but always in keeping with their characters.  There was a plethora of greens and blues, dungarees and my particular favourite was the ‘sharks’ with their black hats with fins on the top.

The lighting was outstanding with a breathtaking opening sequence of tiny blue lights creating the ocean effect brilliantly.    The lighting changed with the scenes such as red when the sharks could smell blood.   The lighting was well controlled and greatly enhanced the action.

This production of Finding Nemo Jr was a joy from start to finish.    As a novice to the Finding Nemo franchise, it was a delight for me.  The story is simple but engaging: young Nemo gets lost and his dad sets out to find him but along the way we experience his encounters with the friends made along the way, adventures and hardships.    Cassia, Eden and Cerys were all wonderfully charming in their energetic performances in the lead roles.    Every single member of the cast gave their all to this fabulously enjoyable production, directed with flair by Owen White, musical direction from Rachel Glover and creative choreography from Luannsa Goodman.
