~~We all know the story of this well know musical but add a pinch of BMOS and you have another hit on your hands.
John Spencer led this large ensemble well. As Tveye he played the character with gentleness and had power when required. He made the role his own and with his rich and powerful voice you were indeed carried off to Anatevka. Sally Jolliffee, as Golde. Gave a performance which could grace any west end stage. Not only did she take on a leading role but was also the productions choreographer. I also enjoyed Jennifer Eglinton’s performance as Yente, the matchmaker, together with Abigail Wells as Hodel. Rob Bateman as Perchik gave a solid performance as did Dave Wilkes as Lazer Wolf. With such a large cast it is difficult to name everyone but the whole cast gave it their all.
The Midland Concert Orchestra, under the direction of Musical Director David Easto sounded really good. Costumes were spot on and the set, though simple was really effective.
Stephens Duckham’s production was a joy to watch, as anyone in the audience would tell you.
