I must, first of all, compliment the production team on this show. It was impeccably presented, particularly in the opening number (Tradition) and the dream sequence. The choreography was outstanding and the singing by the principals and chorus was strong throughout. This was all backed up by a high quality orchestra, good sound and lighting, a clever well used set and excellent costumes.

James Pugh brought an engaging mischievousness to the part of Tevye and this was very effective and he was appropriately complimented by Julie Mallaband as Golde. They worked well together and highlighted the tenderness of their relationship underneath an uncaring front.

The three elder daughters Tzeitel, Hodel and Chava were played with maturity by Avril McCarthy, Jess Long and Ava Taroni. Their partners, Dan Anketell (Motel), Chris Buckle (Perchik) and Luke Bryan (Fyedka) also demonstrated strong acting and singing skills.

Tevye’s family was completed by the delightful Hattie Rumsey (Shprintze) and Lucy Foley (Bielke).Deborah Middleton gave a powerful performance as the matchmaker Yente. All the other principals were very well cast and were very convincing in their respective roles.

Well done to everyone involved in this production!
