If the criteria for any performance is to ensure the audience leaves the theatre knowing they have  had an evening to remember, Fylde Coast Players have certainly succeeded. This is the first time I have seen one of “The Farndale Avenue” productions so I did not know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. The audience were greeted with an open stage with crew members repairing a seemingly disintegrating set which was a novel way to start the performance. The evening continued with a never ending trail of “ Amateur” mishaps reminiscent of years gone by when truly awful productions were so bad that they seemed hilarious. It is not an easy task for accomplished actors to act badly, evocative  of Les Dawson playing the piano but this they did to great effect.  Stage Manager, Teresa Mallabone and crew  and Sheila Davies, Sound, had a very busy evening with all the many effects required. They were instrumental in making the evening the success it surely was. All on stage appeared  to be enjoying themselves as did the vast majority of the audience. Mike Greenwood, Director is to be congratulated on bringing all the various components together for this very successful evening. This was an unusual choice by Fylde Coast Players and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I don’t know how Gill Edwards, Prompt, remembered all her lines?
