I was really looking forward to this show, I’d never seen it performed on stage before, and had loved the long-running TV production. I’m very pleased to say that I wasn’t disappointed. From the very first note it was clear that this cast were were truly invested, putting their heart and soul into into every number. An excellent foundation for the show that was to follow.

Initially, I personally had a short-lived problem with the volume of the ‘The Musicians’. I’m assuming a technical issue and/or maybe where I was sitting. It was not their musicianship, which in fact was impeccable, but the volume slightly overwhelmed the singing initially. Were they positioned under the stage? Actually it seemed to resolve very quickly so it certainly didn’t spoil the excellent evening that was to follow.

The choreography was fabulous. High energy group numbers and beautiful individual pieces stood out. Everyone looked to be confident, thoroughly enjoying themselves, including us in the audience. There weren't any weaknesses – but there was excellence, and those deserve a A+. The beautiful ballet section – stunning; the funny ‘Can’t keep it down’ – no trepidation – full on and be damned! The chorus numbers – energetic and everyone engaged and delivering. The stage-set was really effective and lent itself perfectly to the action on stage.

So, sincere congratulations to your glorious team, Becky Clark and Lauren Friday’s direction and choreography were super. Vicky Hall, your musical director really teased the best from all your performers. My goodness, what a talented company you are!
