New York came to Sutton Coldfield last week in this fast moving musical. Set among the Students of The New York Performing Arts School we meet the characters who made up the class of ’84 as they bid to hit the big time.

Good performance's from Sarah Riches as Serena and Tim Gough as Nick. Sarah has a lovely voice and really sang well. The comic of the piece was played by Robbie Newton as Jose Vegas who was supported by Phebe Jackson as the fame obsessed Carman who wants stardom, who quits school for a bad future. I also enjoyed the performances of the four teachers, especially Collette Forsyth as Miss. Sherman who had great stage presence and a good voice. Good support also came from Sophie Mccoy and all the dancers in this production under choreographer Anna Foster.

The dancing under chorographer Anna Forster was good and Tyrone Jackson who was played by Kyle Henderson and Iris, played by Aimee Horner danced to the usual high standards.

Music, under the direction of Tom Brookes was good and the nine piece band worked well together. Lighting by David Ashton added extra depth to the production.

Good set, which used every inch of Sutton Arts stage. Cleverly designed by Mark Nattrass.

This was a very professional performance from all of the cast involved and Husband and Wife directors Emily and Dexter should be proud of their production.
