~~This was the society’s 25th Anniversary production and what a show! Well it was not a show but a party of all things Eurovision, and how the audience loved it.
On arrival we were given an envelope with the name of a country on it, a flag and a whistle. And so the fun began.
When the lights went down on the auditorium the big screen at the back of the stage lit up and we were treated to videos of the five UK winners of the competition, with the audience singing along.
Charlene Walker and James Ellis as hosts Boyka and Sergei led from the front. They really worked well together and it was good to see Charlene in such a leading role. The set was simple but effective as we were transported to the main concert hall in Sarajevo. Singers from various countries entertained the audience and at the end of the evening they had the chance to vote. Ten countries performed for our entertainment and in the end Sweden won on our particular evening. The whole company gave their all in this outstanding production. A special mention must go to the gentlemen of the society who not only supported most of the artists but also sang in their own right.
Well-done Great Barr.
If you missed this production you missed a real treat.
