This was an excellent production from the young members of Maryport Operatic Society, and what a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit early.

There were some lovely performances. Matthew Goodill was a very convincing Elf. He sang his difficult songs very well and acted the part with aplomb. He was very well supported by his adopted New York family, The Hobbs, Father Walter, played by Kelly Pearce and Mother and son played respectively by Shania Wilson and Luka Anderson. Well done to the Hobbs!. Chloe Copeland, playing Jovie was Elf, Buddy’s romantic connection, she played her part very well. Other notable performances came from Matthew Pope as Santa Claus, and Max McCallister as Macy’s Manager.

It is very difficult to mention every one personally, in a production with such a large company, but I thought the Ensemble performed very well. The production numbers were  well sung and choreographed, well done to the company.

The set was simple, but worked well, but there seemed to be minor hitches with sound and lighting, on opening night .I’m sure that will improve as the week progresses. Congratulations to the production team for a fine show, and the Full House Sign was no more than they deserved.

Thank you MAODS for a very enjoyable evening.
