The Dundee Scout Gang Show 2025 opened with a bang tonight at the Whitehall Theatre, bursting with energy, enthusiasm, from the very first note. The upbeat opening section, Tonight’s the Night, immediately set the tone, lifting the audience and launching The Gang Flying High into an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

The mixed-age cast radiated joy and confidence, their impressive coordination and boundless energy earning huge applause and cheers throughout the night. Every section: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, and Leaders shone with moments that were both hilarious and heartwarming.

The Beavers triumphed in Beavers Are Braw, a charming sequence of Scottish favourites that brought plenty of giggles and a fair bit of Shoogly Woogly fun to the stage.

No Gang Show would be complete without its iconic sketches and this year’s were an absolute triumph. From the delightful Cub Toy Box, with its living toys, strong comedic timing, catchy tunes and imaginative costumes, to the ever popular If I Were Not Upon the Stage, performed with great commitment and perfectly timed chaos, the cast delivered each with flair and finesse.

Fancy a Swim had the audience in stitches, as a team of “synchronized swimmers” brought classic Gang Show silliness to life, flippers and all. Cup of Coffee impressed with its witty dialogue while The Oldest Squirrels Ever’s First Rehearsal was joyous, heartwarming and very funny. The concept was well-executed, with older cast members portraying overenthusiastic “Squirrels” complete with tangents, tantrums and touching team spirit.

The musical numbers were just as impressive. Holy Moly! was a bold and creative mashup of Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and Sister Act, with strong vocals and confident performances across all age groups. Always Take the Weather With You lit up the stage with cheer and charm, and cameo appearances while Wanna Rock n Roll closed Act 1 exploding in glitter and glam-rock glory leaving the audience excited for Act 2

The audience couldn’t stay still during Blame It on the Boogie, a disco-fuelled medley packed with sequins, sparkle, and irresistible energy. The Development Number, All Shook Up, paid a toe-tapping tribute to Elvis with slick choreography and vocal harmonies ; one of the evening’s true highlights. Scotpop showcased the Gang in tartan attire as they celebrated Scotland’s greatest pop talents,

Of course, no Gang Show would be complete without a classic finale, and tonight’s closing number delivered an uplifting, heartfelt end to an exceptional evening - leaving the audience on their feet, clapping and cheering.

The technical elements elevated the show to another level. Lighting and projections by PCLX (Phil & Morven Cooney) added atmosphere, vibrancy, and dynamism throughout, especially in the musical numbers. Accent Audio (Bob, Denise & Jenni Main) ensured the sound was crisp, balanced, and clear from start to finish. Costume and wardrobe, led by Kirsty Thomson and Jan Lamont, dazzled with creativity and colour, with seamless quick changes and eye-catching designs that brought each sketch and number to life. Stage management, headed by Ian Hunt and Jamie Stephen, kept everything running smoothly and professionally.

Huge congratulations must go to the Creative Team—Stacey McPherson-Kennedy, Brodie Mulholland, Aimee Brown, Billy Muir, and Kayla Sellars—who have brought together an outstanding show full of heart, humour, and harmony. Their vision and leadership created a production that celebrates everything a Gang Show should be.

With over 90 performers and just as many volunteers backstage, the camaraderie and team spirit were nothing short of inspiring. Every person involved, on stage or off, should be incredibly proud. The Dundee Scout Gang Show 2025 is a triumph—brilliantly executed, wonderfully entertaining, and an absolute joy to be part of.
