I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Todd in the first play ever to be held at the Guild Hall, Preston, in 1973, what a lovely man. I remember the film “Cast a Dark Shadow” in which he appeared and on which this play is based so I was intrigued to see this production. I led the applause as the curtain opened on a stunning set. Director, John Ellis and set constructors and artists have done a splendid job and it set the tone for the evening. Many fine performances on show tonight and what an intriguing play. It kept us guessing until the final scene. The Director has used his many years experience to bring out the best from his cast and they gave us an evening to remember. I was particularly impressed with the technical aspects of the show, every sound cue on time and so very effective. I thoroughly enjoyed the opening and closing music sung by Julio Iglesias. We felt we were in a lovely warm climate in a splendid villa overlooking the sea in Spain. ( I wish). Those characters who had to speak some Spanish had obviously worked hard and certainly gave the impression they knew what they were saying. Congratulations to all involved and thank you for your warm welcome.
