This company was, as the title suggests, back “again” with another new version of this show. Once more, they all took to the stage in this musical parade of songs from stage musicals past and present, old and new, and had their audience listening intently as the performance unfolded before them. There was a wide and varied programme to whet one’s musical appetite and the audience enjoyed musical selections from shows such as “A Chorus Line”, “Evita”, “Bonnie And Clyde” and, of course, there had to be the obligatory “Les Mis” selection – and what a fine resounding Finale it turned out to be, too! There were several highlights, among them being “Anthem” from “Chess”, and “This Is My Moment” from “Jekyll And Hyde”, plus a fine comic rendition of “The Joy Of Motherhood” regarding the rearing up of tiny ducklings! The cast, predominately costumed in black throughout, played before a stage set of black curtains and, thanks to some dramatic stage lighting (and the inevitable stage mist!), the show came over in quite a dramatic atmosphere. There was an excellent choral ensemble sound emitting from the stage, under the guidance of the MD, who gave great encouragement to the singing company as he energetically exerted his musical talents at the piano which was situated on stage throughout the entire performance! It would be unfair to mention names, because everyone played their part in the show’s success but, suffice to say, that the many excellent soloists were given the chance to shine and display their musical talents. So, to them – well done! It was a great evening’s entertainment, because this company of people did sing . . . again!
