Deputising for Mike Pendlowski I crossed the Tay into Leven and the magic of Beauty and the Beast performed by Leven Amateur Musical Association

It was a delightful experience, filled with vibrant performances and impressive production values. Directed by Iain Hughes, this rendition captured the enchanting spirit of the beloved Disney tale, making for a memorable night at the theatre.

- Amy Elder as Belle brought a perfect blend of sweetness and strength to Belle. Her vocal performance was outstanding, particularly in numbers like "Belle (Reprise)" and "A Change in Me," where she conveyed Belle's depth and resilience beautifully.

- Thom Hughes as The Beast delivered a powerful and nuanced performance as the Beast. His solos was both haunting and moving, capturing the character's internal struggle and eventual redemption.

- Aiden French as Lumiere was a standout as the charming candlestick, bringing charisma and comedic timing to the role. His rendition of "Be Our Guest" was a showstopper, delivered with energy and flair.

- Andrew Doig as Gaston was perfectly cast as the arrogant and boisterous Gaston. His physicality and booming voice brought the character to life, especially during "Gaston" and "The Mob Song."

- Billy Naismith as Cogsworth gave a delightful portrayal of the fussy clock, providing excellent comic relief with his impeccable timing, expressive reactions, working in sync with Aiden French.

- Gordon Taylor as Maurice brought warmth and a touch of vulnerability to Belle's loving father, making his scenes genuinely heartfelt.

- Elinor Hay's motherly presence and soothing voice were perfect for Mrs. Potts. Her rendition of "Beauty and the Beast" was touching and beautifully delivered.

- On the night I visited Findlay Spence played an endearing Chip, bringing innocence and charm to his role.

- Logan Booth as Lefou physical comedy and loyal but bumbling persona made Lefou a delight to watch.

- Karen Richards brought a flirtatious and playful energy to Babette, adding to the show's humour.

- Norma Walker as Madame De La Grande Bouche gave a grand and comedic portrayal of the opera-singing wardrobe, her scenes filled with laughter.

Iain Hughes' direction ensured a well-paced and cohesive production, while Fiona Stewart's choreography was lively and inventive, particularly in the ensemble numbers with a large cast and limited stage space. Peter Robinson's musical direction brought Alan Menken's beloved score to life, with the orchestra providing a rich, full sound that complemented the performers.

- The set, provided by Kirkcaldy Youth Music Theatre and John Urqhart, was complimentary, enhanced by a fabulous video wall that added depth and dynamic backdrops to the scenes, as did the costumes and wigs perfectly capturing the Disney magic and adding authenticity to the characters.

There’s no show without a chorus and here at LAMA they certainly set each scene performing in character with enthusiasm and precision, their energy palpable in big numbers like "Be Our Guest" and "The Mob Song." Their commitment and passion were evident, contributing to the overall success of the production.

The Leven Amateur Musical Association's *Beauty and the Beast* was a thoroughly enjoyable and professional production. With strong performances, impressive production values, and a dedicated ensemble, it was a lovely night that captured the magic of the Disney classic.
