When undertaking a more modern show which is less well known, societies have to lead their audience through what is to them an unknown path. It was refreshing to see a production set in France rather than America as so many are. The evening was set beautifully by the opening scene in a well-presented hotel lobby in France. The director, musical director and choreographer are individually exceptionally talented. Together they make a fantastic team.

The audience could clearly see their talents throughout the evening. The production design / technical director Neil Martin - whose sets are consistently admirable - the scenery was flown in or rolled in, whilst the actors were still carrying out their complex stage directions. Which meant the evening flowed exceptionally well. The costumes and lighting were all of top notch. I particularly loved the individual spots which fell on actors while other cast members on set were frozen into a tableau. All the cast gave everything, which showed in the pace of the production and the accuracy of everything on the set. They worked extremely hard for each other and us the audience. But I feel a special mention must be made of Ian Norton as Lawrence Jameson and Christian Norton as Freddie Benson, who were both at the top of their game all evening.

One other comment I must make is - what can one say about Ruprecht!!! Absolutely brilliant, this show keeps its audience laughing, humming and guessing right through to the end.
