Written by Joe Lynch and Tony Richards this version involved witches as well as lots of rats, and very entertaining it proved to be, too. Leah Dixon was impressive in the title role with Claire Nash as a very presentable Tommy, the cat. Joe Lynch and Billie Early were Mr Fitzwarren and his daughter, Alice. Robert Ives was well cast as Rosemary, the Fitzwilliams' cook with Fern Bellaby as a slightly confused Larry. The evil witch Winnefred [Christopher Pratt] and Gareth Wright as King Rat along with their followers welcomed the inevital boos....plenty of them. Kate Drummond was a delightfully pretty fairy desperate to pass her Learner's Test and get her wings. The rest of the cast and chorus played their parts well. I applaud the choice of songs in this production which were in true panto fashion. The community song [If I Were Not Upon The Stage] was particularly successful. The audience participated well. The set was excellent, and apart from a few hiccups with the sound, both lighting and other effects were very good. The costumes were colourful and nicely presented. This was a most entertaining evening. Well done, everyone.
