For their 2012 offering Forfar M.S. decided to use a script written by two former members of the Society, Tommy Baxter and Neil Stewart and this led to a number of changes to the normally expected casting of this ever-popular story of the rise to fame of the Lord Mayor of London, including one or two risqué jokes! It also meant one or two additional characters which allowed more members to be allocated speaking and singing parts. In the title role of Dick, Marley Laurie was a traditional thigh-slapping principal boy and she and Alica (Sally McLean, who also, produced the piece) were on form in their roles. Dave Mitchell was the multi-costumes Dame Dora and carried the bulk of the comedy lines. Villain of the piece was Lee Mclean as the ever-threatening Demon Rat. And his lady-friend Tracey, was one of the extra characters - in excellent voice. Others were Captain Jack Sparrow (Ewan Phillip), and Tugboat L'il (Carolyn McLean),. Craig Anderson was a strong Alderman Fitzwarren and the parts of Idle Jack (Melanie Coull) and his girlfriend Penny Pillock (Louise Cumming) were able aides in the comedy field. Another person multi-tasking was Musical Director Susan Douglas in the role of Fairy Bowbells. Chorus singing and dancing was of a high standard.
