The 65th Anniversary production of Dick Whittington proved to be another resounding success for Malton and Norton Musical Theatre.  The show was well directed both on stage and musically by a strong production team, ably supported by the choreography team from Kirkham Henry Performing Arts, and as such the whole show came together in manner of which the entire cast and crew should be proud, emphasising the hard work and dedication which had obviously been put in during rehearsal.    The casting was very well suited.  There was a strong principal boy and girl, (Ria Williams and Ellen Longworth) whose voices complimented each other in the musical numbers.  Dame Sarah the Cook (Mark Boler) gave an accomplished performance alongside a very gifted and talented young man in the shape of son Idle Jack (Ben Greenhough).  A comedic Fairy Bow Belle (Paula Cook) ensured Dick and his companion Tom the Cat (Mia West) were able to see off the scheming Queen Rat (Margaret Lukey), despite the efforts of her two Hench-rats Rot and Stench (Georgia Chapman and Dom Weatherill), whose partnership worked fabulously. A strong chorus provided excellent support in the musical numbers, including some delightful harmonies.  The skilled dancers, whose stamina in the CanCan dance defied expectation, added flair throughout the show.   The performers were equally matched by the technical crew which produced an impressive set, skilful lighting and well-presented costumes throughout.  The combo band of keyboards and drums, as always, provided the final piece of the jigsaw to ensure this pantomime really didn’t disappoint.  Well done to all involved and many congratulations on your anniversary year.
