This was a very funny script and the cast made the best use of it with well timed humour. There was plenty to boo, cheer and laugh at. Most of the comedy was in the very capable hands of Chris Flint (Idle Jack Spratt) and Jonathan Edwards (Gertrude Spratt) both of whom worked the audience well but there was also some well played knock-about fun from Sarah Diamond (Beau Larrat) and Linda Askew (Beau Lamova). Where do these names come from???? The romantic interest came from Louise Hewitt (Dick Whittington) and Emily Lake (Alice Fitzwarren) and both were ideally suited to these roles as they worked and sang well together. Vicki Evans (Fairy Bow-Bells) gave us plenty to cheer as she kept us up-to-date with the story whilst Julie Hunter (Queen Rat) gave us plenty to boo about as she tried to disrupt any chance of Dick finding happiness. I must compliment Kayleigh McCabe (Tommy the Cat) as she was delightful. There was strong support from Brian Washington (Alderman Fitzwarren), Francesca Breeze (Maisy Dotes), David Beere (Captain Cutlass) and Steve Thornhill (Sultan Peppa). All these characters had the support of the chorus who together with the principals sang and danced with confidence. It was also a pleasure to see all the children enjoying themselves on stage.

The costumes, set, lighting, sound and the camel all added up to a successful pantomime. The pace moving from one scene to the next was a little slow but this was opening night so I am sure that these would speed up.

Well done to everyone involved!
