This traditional pantomime did exactly what it should by providing a very enjoyable evening of entertainment.  In spite of a couple of important cast changes at the performance we saw, which was a challenge for the performers and interesting for the remainder of the cast and musicians, the effect for the audience did not change from the norm and a full house was on side from the start with not only the children getting into the spirit of things!

In a change from her usual role as Alice, Oprah Kitchen took over as Principal Boy, Dick Whittington, and gave a performance to be proud of.  Mel Kendall stepped into the role of Alice and was suitably nice.  Sarah the Cook was performed energetically by Mike Sheldon, standing in on this occasion, and he had no voice left at the end of the night!  There was an excellent portrayal of King Rat by Simon Kendall and Mickey the Mate was nicely played by Ryan Wilson.  With a kindly Fairy Bowbells (Sandra Robson), a talented young magician (Jamie McKeller), good supporting characters, a well-dressed chorus, plenty of comedy, a super underwater “ballet” using UV, a sing song or two that got everyone singing and a great set, this was a fun night.
