~~This play, which ended up as an Alfred Hitchcock hit film gave Sutton Arts another firm hit.
The play tells us of a retired tennis player who finds a solution to end his wife’s affair with a scriptwriter, back from America.
Dexter Whitehead as former tennis star Tony Wendice played the part with confidence and the audience could see that he was enjoying himself. Playing the part of his wife is Michelle Dawes, who worked well with Dexter.
Richard Price played the scriptwriter Max Halliday, the man who wrote a murder a week and the wife’s affair.
Richard Clark played a small time con man Captain Lesgate, with a knack of cheating little old ladies of out money.
One welcome return to Sutton Arts was James Brain as Inspector Hubbard. James has been missed at the theatre and hopefully we will see more of him soon.
The set was well made, we would expect nothing less from Sutton Arts and the lighting worked well.
This was a well acted and well-directed play and Debbie Loweth should be praised for the nice touches she added.
