My final production of the season always tends to be the Christmas concert from Saddleworth Musical Society and believe you me it’s a perfect way to end the season – there is always such a joyful festive air and it’s a lovely drive to the venue past all the lit up houses and gardens. The concert itself started with the choir singing “ Deck the Halls” they looked very eye catching in their concert blacks and contrasting corsage for the ladies and bow ties for the gentlemen. Their guest Musical Director was Peter Wakefield, it was lovely to see Peter back at Saddleworth again, he led the choir with some nice pace through all the musical pieces, he had a nice connection with the audience in between the vocal parts. Myself and my guest enjoyed the choir`s rendition of “Angel`s Carol” it can be very easy for the sops to overpower but it was a lovely blend – a standout for me. It`s always nice when the choir include the audience in some of the singing, we were invited to join in with “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night” and join in we did with great enthusiasm. The choir did a very lovely rendition of “Silent Night”, there was a softness introduced from the familiar carol. The choir ended the concert with “Fantasia Noel Medley” and we all left feeling very christmassy.
Thank you for your invitation. I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
