This energetic group delivered a comprehensive display of dance featuring jive, tap, rock ’n roll and ballet. The programme was varied and the dances fast moving. After a colourful opening with all the company, a duo tapped their way through Ain’t Misbehaving followed by an acrobatic and well timed dance in Sing Sing Sing. Thus the pattern and standard was set for the evening. Lively and precise dances for Candyman and Jailhouse Rock turned to a change in pace with an engaging duo for two younger dancers in A Little Bird Told Me and the romantic Here Comes The Sun where the dancer interpreted the music beautifully. After the interval, the Project Theatre cast sang the catchy Dancing Queen before the dancers took us through the likes of Time Warp, a Michael Jackson routine and one for The Spice Girls and again contrasted with a sensitively expressed and well executed dance for Halo. Thoughtfully arranged groups tackled numbers like Gimme Gimme Gimme and When I Grow Up while solo dancers Chloe Meichan, Samantha Niven, Jenny Donachie and Lisa Muir moved with agility and grace. The young choreographers Louise Brown and Louise Freck created imagination routines and had trained their group well with clean and well timed dance steps and acrobatic movements. Colourful and appropriate costumes complemented the performance of dances in which all dancers showed their skills, concentration and enthusiasm. Congratulations to all.
