Last year, having had a successful run in their own MAD Theatre in Monifieth, the company, this year, decided to go “on tour” with their smash hit show. Thus, last week, the company presented it in the Webster Theatre, in Arbroath, and then followed it up this week with a performance at the Gardyne Theatre, in Dundee. Again, the brilliant cast was at their very best enacting two of the best from the TV series. Viewing this show is like watching the TV repeats – no matter how often you watch them, you end up laughing out loud at their comic antics - and it all makes for a happy experience! The entire cast (with a couple of small changes) repeated their frolics in “Mums Army” - when women volunteered to help out the Home Guard, and “The Deadly Attachment” containing the classic line – “Don’t tell him, Pike!” with the Platoon guarding the German U-Boat captain and his crew. I was most impressed with the stage set, (built for the bigger stage) which was an exact replica from the TV series and which deservedly received great applause from the audience when the curtain rose. Well done to the stage designers! And well done to the company for bringing merriment and mirth to cheer us all up again!
