I don’t know where to start with this review except to say congratulations to all involved!
There are three characters in this show that need to be exactly right for the show to work and Tamworth Arts Club got it ‘spot-on’. Jamie Pitts(Polly Baker) brought expression and feeling into every song, Adam Gregory(Bobby Child) was amazing in his dance routines and Chris Kimpton (Bela Zangler) along with Adam produced one of the slickest ‘mirror’ routines that I have seen followed by an equally impressive ‘What Causes That?’ duet. The humour was in the very capable hands of Paul Bellamy and Nik Ellis as Eugene and Patricia Fodor. The scheming saloon owner, LanK Hawkins was well played by Tyrone Hill and there was some good singing from the cowboy trio David Hellyer, Steve Mortimer and Pete Wilkes. There was excellent support from all the principals and all the singing was strong throughout. There are some big production numbers in this show particularly ‘Slap that Bass’ and ‘I got Rhythm’ but the choreographer and cast were up to the challenge. I am always amazed what a large cast manage to do on such a small stage.
The orchestra were very supportive with a good balance ensuring that there was no difficulty hearing the singing. Lighting, sound and costumes added to this delightful production and the set changes were very slick. Well done!
