The Three Towns Operatic Society Concert treated us to a 43 strong choir at St Josephs Hall.
Rod Dakin Musical Director has certainly worked his magic assisted by David Kay.
Nicola Dagnall who accompanied the choir, playing the piano for the varied music programme
With something for everyone I am sure lots of foot tapping was happening in the relaxed surroundings.
Compere David Hill struck the right note and navigated us through various songs of which some I had not heard of. So it was good to get the information about such pieces and interesting facts. David even treated us to an introduction in German of one of the songs.
My absolute favourite was MAKE ME FEEL MY LOVE, it actually brought a tear to my eye, with a soft touch and delicacy. SUPERB!
We were presented with songs from shows such as Chess, Fiddler on The Roof, Mikado and Les Miserables to mention a few.
With the well trained voices filling the hall, the ladies took on Seasons of Love from RENT and the gentlemen singing YOU RAISE ME UP by Secret Garden ( also well known as a Westlife song), making this a rousing evening of musical renditions.
Three Town Operatic Society presented a varied programme of solo renditions that entertained not only in their performance and delivery but also in their selection and tempo. Soloist Victoria Goulden gave us STRAHLENDER MOND meaning “Bright Moon” by Haller & Kinnek) – she not only sung this in German but managed to emote feeling and passion from the song as a true professional, her phrasing & enunciation also giving meaning, despite the foreign language.
Well done Three Towns – a very enjoyable evening and once again thank you for making my guest and I feel so welcome
