Standing in for my colleague Ron Stewart (sunning himself in sunny foreign climes!), this was the second occasion when I found myself in the Society’s clubrooms performing their “Comrie Concert 7” to their faithful theatre followers. Again, I was amazed how the large company managed to manoeuvre their stage moves on the very small stage without bumping into each other! The show got off to a great beginning with a selection of “Big Band” tunes being loudly sung out by the company along with its tremendous harmonies! The Society’s future – the very young Juniors - then made their presence known as they entertained their audience with a great and varied selection of Disney songs. Later in the show they, again, charmed the audience when they took to the stage in a musical selection from “Oliver!”  It was clearly evident that these youngsters had been well rehearsed because they showed no inhibitions throughout their stage performances. Then came a change of tempo as the company took to the stage in a “Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5” song tribute which was quickly followed by a well sung duet of Abba’s “Chiquitta”. Then came a dance number entitled “60s With A Twist!” – and what a twist! The stage was taken over by six blonde-haired girl dancers all in pristine white dresses and showing their terpsichorean talents when, suddenly, they were upstaged by another “dancer”, all dressed similarly in black . . . a dancing man complete with black beard!! What a hoot! Guitar instrumentals, “Space” themed songs, and Charleston era dance, all took to the stage until it was the show’s end when the “Boys Vs Girls” songs brought the show to its final end. Outwith the show, another hilarious moment came when the raffle winners were announced from the stage – by courtesy by one of the society’s inimitable members who turned it into a hilarious comedy session. Yup, a happy, cheery, little, show!
