Once more Carnoustie Musical Society's Comrie Cabaret was used to demonstrate the depth of talent that this Society is fortunate to have. In particular this year the choreography and chorus movement showed to great advantage the hard work that had been put in by the choreographer and producer. The musical arrangements by the MD were also of a very high standard with numbers chosen, not only for their popularity, but some lesser known items to challenge the company - a challenge to which they rose with great energy. The show got off to a rousing start with a Mowtown sequence, followed by a solo guitar number before three members of the junior section entertained with a number of appropriate songs from Matilda. An energetic Rock Musicals sequence followed leading into a superb Brave dance number which displayed the talents of the dance troupe. Another solo number followed before the company entered with the men resplendent in tails - but without the top hats! Another well choreographed and danced Artist's dance followed before the three youngsters gave us the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy a la Andrews Sisters before a superb "America" finale ending with "Main Street USA". The evening ended with an informal refreshment get-together with the cast and audience. A most enjoyable evening of musical theatre. Thanks Carnoustie!
