Once again, Carnoustie Musical Society provided an evening of music from the musicals in their homely Comrie Hall, and with not a microphone in sight, it was a delight to enjoy the wonderful sound of natural voices in unison and delightful harmony. The wide range of numbers from “Guys and Dolls”, “Hairspray”, “Annie” (featuring a cute line up of juniors – with some really nice voices), “Les Miserables”, “Showboat”, “Half a Sixpence” and a rousing “Mamma Mia” finale, had the capacity audience wishing for more. What a depth of talent this thriving Society has in this, their centenary celebration year and it was nice to see so many new faces being given centre stage to show what they can do – and of course, well known stalwarts all adding their piece. With choreography of an exceptionally high standard and two virtuoso performances by guest artiste cornetist Scott Ness and a nice “meet the cast” refreshment at the end, this was a most entertaining evening. Thank you, Carnoustie M.S.
