This talented company gave us not one but four comedies, written by David Tristram, whom Circle Players had the pleasure of having in their audience.
Directed by newcomer to the society, Julie Sadler, we were treated to two of the ‘Little Grimley’ tales, plus ‘Women Only’ and ‘Joining the Club’. All of the short comedies went down well with the audience who were laughing out loud to each one.
The Little Grimley tales were set in a community hall somewhere in the West Midlands and featured the committee of Little Grimley Amateur Dramatics Society and the joys of one of their committee meetings. The second instalment showed how the committee decided to save the planet with low-carbon emissions. Chairman of the company was played by Clive Barlow with George Georgiou as set builder Bernard, Beck Lucas-Smith as Joyce and the very funny Jean Kerby as interfering Margaret.
‘Women only’ showed a conversation with a Mother and daughter at a seaside resort. But all is not what it seems and is it really her mother. This two hander was performed by Jenny Culligan as daughter Laura and Carol Grice as mother Ruth.
‘Joining the Club’ a young couple who were very successful in their own right, find out that the wife of the couple is pregnant and the changes that it can bring to their lives, but it takes a while for her to tell him. Newcomer to the group Eloise Tanley played Jenny and Taylor Johns as Tom
This talented cast worked well on each play and the sets looked good for each piece.
Congratulations to all involved and I look forward to the next production.
