One of the pleasures of my role is seeing companies perform at this high standard. The production was slick, music and singing were excellent and the cast were all superb in their various roles.
This musical, based on a true story had it all, comedy, pathos and a powerful message of support and friendship. The static set and minimal furniture provided the perfect backdrop for the action and drama as it unfolded.
The cast was a collection of talent from Angus and district and all brought considerable expertise to the stage. To the ladies Jill Davidson, Heidi Cathro, Erin Nicoll, Alison McDonald, Cara Longmuir, Carol Blair and the gentlemen Roo Mathieson, Ally Semple, Kris Mordente, Ben Battle, Graeme Baird, Danny Webster I thank you all on behalf of the audience. A well deserved standing ovation.
The producer Janet Irving showed a complete understanding of the show and the events surrounding it and gave the production the treatment it deserved. The music, in the capable hands of Richard Allan, complemented the action on stage and the inclusion of the musicians in the drama and at the end was a memorable feature.
Sound and lighting were complementary to the production and of a professional standard. Well done to the backstage crew, rehearsal accompanist (Arthur Balfour) and rehearsal swing (Nieve Knox).
Thank you for my invitation and an enjoyable evening.
