Cluedo

Based on the classic murder mystery board game, Cluedo is a fast-paced whodunnit comedy packed with secrets, unexpected twists, and razor-sharp humour. This production kept the audience guessing from start to finish while delivering plenty of laugh-out-loud moments along the way.

The set was fantastic, allowing for multiple entrances and exits that enhanced the fast-moving action. It came into its own during the montage sequence, making scene changes seamless while adding to the fun and energy of the production.

The larger-than-life characters were brought vividly to life under the skilful direction of Hannah Potter, assisted by Heather Scott. The whole cast and crew worked together as a fantastic team, creating a polished and thoroughly entertaining production. A particularly lovely touch was the use of every part of the theatre not only was the action confined to the stage, but the foyer and box office were also incorporated to create an immersive experience that welcomed audiences into the world of the play from the moment they arrived.

Gavin O'Doherty was superb as Wadsworth the butler... or was he? His standout moment was undoubtedly the rapid-fire retelling of the entire story, taking on multiple characters in less than three minutes. It was an impressive display of versatility, comic timing, and energy that deserved the enthusiastic audience response it received.

Lee McShane gave a strong performance as Reverend Green, perfectly suited to the role. He maintained the mystery throughout without ever giving away the plot's many twists.

Claire Ball was every bit the enigmatic Mrs White, dressed head to toe in black. She provided the first of many laugh-out-loud moments, portraying the character with excellent comic timing and confidence.

Sarah Richardson brought glamour and sophistication to Miss Scarlett, playing the role with ease, charm, and just the right amount of seductive flair.

Michael Caygill's Colonel Mustard was delightfully amusing. His understated humour and wonderfully oblivious nature made for a thoroughly enjoyable performance.

Beth O'Doherty delivered a very convincing Mrs Peacock, bringing excellent physical comedy to the role. Her reactions throughout were perfectly judged and added greatly to the comedy.

Dani Heslop was outstanding as Professor Plum. Their ability to command attention without ever drawing focus away from the main action demonstrated excellent stage awareness, resulting in a performance of real quality.

Jess Ingoe was a convincing and engaging Yvette, keeping the audience guessing to the point where I was convinced at one stage that she was the culprit.

Georgine Early, Ben Leadbetter, and Jamie Gallagher provided excellent support as ensemble members, taking on multiple roles with energy, versatility, and enthusiasm, helping to keep the pace high throughout.

Overall, this was a very well-produced and highly entertaining evening of theatre. The combination of strong performances, imaginative staging, excellent direction, and immersive touches made for a thoroughly enjoyable production. Congratulations to everyone involved both on stage and behind the scenes on delivering such a successful show.
