City of Champions

The Spring production form PHTC "City of Champions" was a return to their main objective - presenting challenging plays not usually attempted by amateur theatre. Set in Inglewood LA, the story concerns the long term effects of sexual abuse on young teenage film stars by their paedophile studio bosses. It follows these victims, now young adults as they try and forge their careers. Brilliantly presented here the two boys have dealt with their undisclosed experiences very differently. The main protagonist appears more fractured than his friend and it is he that finally takes charge of the situation  and exposes these historical crimes. Tragically he does this at the cost of his own life. The talented cast told this story with great sensitivity and compassion.
