This year’s festive offering from this enthusiastic group was the perennial favourite Cinderella. Full of well-known songs, such as I’m in the Mood for Dancing, Jingle Bell Rock and a hilarious Sisters, witty one liners and local and topical references this was what a local panto should be. Leading the cast as the humorously miss-matched pair of Ugly Sisters were the over-the-top Brian Matheson as Grizelda and Miller Young as the (younger) sister Mona. They never missed a comedy trick and proved they were dab-hands with a water gun, as many of the patrons could testify to! Keeping them in order, as well as Ali Niven as a sympathetic Baron Hardup, was Charlotte Williamson as an eminently boo-able Baroness Hardup. Charley Hancox was a delightful Buttons bringing out both the pathos and comedy in the character. Caitlyn Bishop as Cinderella and Emma Ferguson made a handsome couple. Caitlyn had a sweet singing voice beautifully showcased in her solo rendition of But Not For Me. Strong support was given by Teresa Warden (Fairy Godmother), Sarah Hodge (Dandini) and Elena Williamson and Katie Milne (Chamberlains). The young chorus moved and sang well making most of the limited space available. The sets and costumes were simple, colourful and entirely appropriate. The small band under their conductor Ron Stewart added much to the evening – they even had their own lines of dialogue to deliver! Well done everyone for an enjoyable evening of festive fun.
