This was my first visit to a B.F.C. Pantomime and it was being performed at one of my favourite theatres, The Grand, in Blackpool. The script written by local author Simon Cartmell was an entertaining melange of the traditional story of Cinderella with a very modern twist to incorporate current T.V. The leap from the modern to the traditional was sometimes quite confusing but it did keep us fascinated and focussed as to the next piece of action. It was obvious that a great deal of hard work and dedication by the production team had helped to ensure a very high standard of performance. It is sometimes hard to realise what can be achieved by such young people and we could see that everyone pulled together with enthusiasm and dedication. There were so many good performances from the talented cast but four roles were outstanding. The Fairy Godmother, Kayleigh Allan showed her comic timing in this excellent interpretation of the role. Phoebe Coulon as Decdini is a versatile actress who looked completely at home on the stage. Her range of accents was outstanding. Caleb Barber as The King and Daniel Lees as Steve are two natural talents who show great potential for the future. The Choreography by Amie Perry, Danielle Woodhouse, Laura Wade and Nikita Coulon was exceptional with original and interesting groupings, formations and dynamics. All involved were well trained and disciplined. Sophie Coulon, Director and her team are to be congratulated on a very professional production. Staging and technical departments together with some beautiful costumes all combined to make this a very special production and my wife and I had a most enjoyable evening with you all.
